These Carpet Types Are Suitable For Damp Areas

In buying a type of carpet for wet and damp areas, you should choose a carpet specifically designed for that area. This carpet usually has a different material character from the carpet in general. So, it is hoped that this carpet will not become a nest for mold or mildew. However, if it happens, you can hire the fresh healthy carpet cleaning.

Here are some types of carpets that are suitable for damp areas:

Rug Throw

This type of carpet, although quite resistant to humid conditions, but requires periodic washing so as not to become a den of fungus growth. No need to worry, because this type of carpet is easy to carry and wash, so you have no difficulty in washing it.

This throw rug comes in small and large sizes. This carpet is commonly used as an extension and placed on the edge of the room. Not only does it need to be washed periodically, but this carpet also needs to be dried periodically too. If washing is intended to remove dust and bacteria that can cause mold, drying is more an effort to remove moisture so that the carpet does not become a nest of growth and development of mold.

Olefin

Olefin is one material made from synthetic fibers. This carpet is flexible enough to be placed anywhere, whether it is inside or outside the room. This carpet is also deliberately designed to be resistant to areas with high humidity.

If in the past the carpet tends to be made of coarse material and less attractive in terms of appearance, so now more carpet is made with soft synthetic materials through the manufacturing process, one of which is a carpet made from Olefin. Thus, these rugs are more in line with carpet standards for indoor use, including for rooms with high humidity areas.

Some other synthetic fiber materials

Besides olefin, there are also synthetic fibers that are quite resistant in areas with high humidity, namely nylon, and polyester. Although not as good as olefins in absorbing moisture, at least two synthetic fibers are still better than natural fibers in general. This is quite understandable because, in natural fibers, mold and mildew can take the ‘juice’ contained in the natural fiber. So that mold and mildew can flourish and develop.
